NR200 vs Meshlicious vs Formd T1
9 min read · Three popular Mini-ITX paths compared: compact tower, mesh airflow, and premium sandwich.
These three cases appear in almost every “first SFF build” thread. They are not interchangeable: they target different budgets, desk space, cooling philosophy, and tolerance for hands-on tuning. This comparison is about choosing a direction, not declaring a single winner for every builder.
Load all three in Case Lab before you buy. Outer dimensions tell a clearer story than marketing photos.
Cooler Master NR200 / NR200P
The NR200 is the forgiving default for builders entering SFF. It offers excellent GPU length for its size, straightforward air or AIO cooling, and wide global availability at a moderate price. The layout is traditional: GPU beside the motherboard in one chamber, with multiple fan mounting points on the top, bottom, and sides.
The NR200P adds a tempered glass side panel and an optional PCIe riser for vertical GPU display. Most builders do not need the P variant unless they want the glass aesthetic. Compatibility with tall air coolers, 240 mm and 280 mm AIOs, and long triple-fan GPUs makes the NR200 a safe first compact case.

SSUPD Meshlicious
The Meshlicious (often discussed alongside the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini lineage) is a mesh-forward design that prioritizes filtered intake and GPU thermals. It tends to be wider and taller than pure SFF sandwiches but easier to cool than ultra-compact layouts. The mesh panels support high-airflow builds with large GPUs.
Builders who want strong GPU temperatures without full sandwich complexity often land here. Cable management is more involved than an NR200, but still more approachable than a premium sandwich case. Check GPU thickness and radiator combinations against the manual, mesh cases still have limits.

Formd T1 (sandwich class)
The Formd T1 represents premium sandwich SFF: minimal volume, high-quality materials, and a learning curve. CPU cooler choice, fan tuning, riser cable quality, and assembly order all matter. The reward is a showcase build with a tiny desk footprint and distinctive proportions.
T1-class cases are frustrating if you expected ATX-level plug-and-play. They shine when you enjoy iterative tuning and want the smallest practical enclosure for your parts list. Budget for a quality PCIe riser and plan thermals before you order.

What these cases do not solve
None of these choices automatically fixes noise, dust, or aesthetics, that is still fan and filter strategy. None removes the need to verify your exact GPU SKU dimensions. If you need 3.5" hard drives, many SFF cases are the wrong category entirely.
